Many people go to the farmers’ market when they want fresh produce. It’s also a great place to go shopping for a color scheme. Nature is a fairly reliable place to find inspiration when changing colors. How often do we see clashing colors occur naturally?
It’s no secret that I’m crazy about farmers’ markets. I think they are some of the most inspiring and uplifting places on the planet. There you will find nature’s bounty in all its glory. If you’re feeling down, a simple stroll at your local farmers’ market should restore your spirit.
On my most recent trip to the state farmers’ market I ran into my daughters’ friend, and she was holding a stunning bouquet of flowers. I had not intended to buy flowers, but the colors and textures were irresistible. After completing the rest of my purchases in record time, I rushed back to the flower vendor and bought a bouquet just as she was closing up for the day.
When I got home, I arranged my goodies for a photo shoot.
That’s when I noticed the floral arrangement coordinated very well with my other purchases. It got me thinking about how we compile color schemes. So many people struggle with the decision… Should I go with classic tones? The latest trending color? A “named” palette brought to you by your favorite paint company?
My go-to solution is nature. Whether you are changing only paint colors and accessories or completely remodeling the room with new cabinets, appliances, and tile, a color scheme inspired by nature works.
If your table arrangement includes sunflowers, top it all off with yellow napkins on dark brown or straw place mats.
